Creating a new task

Lano’s basic Contractor Management solution allows you to create tasks, allocate them to your contractors, and track their performance. You can also create task templates and repeatedly use them for future tasks.

How do I create a new Task?

Step 1:

Select Tasks in your menu bar and click on "Add task" in the top right corner. Alternatively, you can select a project and then create a task directly within the project.

Step 2:

This opens an editing screen. Here, you can add information about your task:

  • Project: Choose whether you want your task to be within one of your projects or alternatively create a task with no project relation. Please note: This will only be shown if you have the Control module activated.

  • Title: Provide a name for your task.

  • Budget (optional): Choose whether you want to allocate a fixed budget, receive proposals from your contractors, or allocate the budget at a later point in time. Please note: The budget won’t be visible to your contractors working on the project.

  • Fee type: Select if you would like to bill it per hour, per day or per week.

  • Currency: Pick the currency

  • Fee: Enter the fee charged

  • Description (optional): Add a short description of your project goal.

  • Time frame: Set a time period for your task.

  • Status: Set the status such as “in draft”, “in progress”, “assigned” or “awaiting approval”. Find out what each task status means here .

  • Capacity: Add the number of bucket tasks you want to create. You will be able to allocate them to different contractors. Learn more about bucket tasks here .

  • Templates (optional): Add a template to the task you’re creating. Get to know the elements of a task template and learn how to create them here .

Add all necessary information in the required fields and click "Create" to save the task

Step 3:

As soon as you have created the task, you can assign a contractor from the task overview page.

Step 4:

By clicking on the Compliance tab, you can send a contract or request other necessary documents.

Step 5:

If you click on Notes & Comments, you can leave messages for team members or external contractors working on this task

Step 6:

In the Attachments tab, you can share files with contractors or review the attachments that your contractors have shared with you.
