Noticed something when visiting our website lately? That’s right. Our website, platform, and visuals have a completely new look!
There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes over the past months, but today we’re excited to introduce the new identity of the Lano brand, underlining our direction in building a consolidated payroll platform for global teams.
Our refreshed brand identity reflects our evolution towards providing a simpler, more streamlined approach to managing global payroll for global teams. In this post, we want to take you on a journey through the evolution of the Lano brand to see how we got to where we are today. Let's dive right in.
Our product offering might have evolved over the years—from the original freelance management system Lano started out as to the payroll consolidation platform we are today—but our mission has remained unchanged: building solutions that allow our customers to scale globally.
In our efforts to help shape the future of work, we are guided by four key values that define the way we work together as a team:
Enabling our customers to effortlessly build global teams
Collaborating unconditionally across departments and time zones
Striving to build for the long term
Following a globally-minded approach in everything we do
And even though we are evolving as a brand, we will always stay true to our values and our mission because that’s where we came from.
If you’ve been with us for a while, you might have noticed that it’s not the first time we make changes to our brand identity. In the early days, our visual identity was dominated by the recognizable Lano green and based purely on graphic illustrations.
In a first step, with our Senior Brand Marketing Manager, Raquel Camacho, joining we gradually moved from the abstract illustrations to real-people images to give our brand a more tech and personal touch.
Not so long after, we welcomed our very first brand designer, Adela Posse, into the team, and that was when our rebranding journey really started.
The original Lano green was gradually replaced by blue. We introduced a set of new visuals for our blog to improve recognition and worked towards creating a real Lano universe and a clear visual identity.
However, when we wrapped up this initial rebranding initiative, we realized that it didn’t go far enough to really showcase who we are as a brand, nor what we are striving for.
Over the past few years, managing global teams has somewhat become the new normal, with many solutions being available to solve the challenges of employing and paying global teams. Meanwhile, the complexities of standardizing and unifying payroll architectures across different countries and employment types have remained unchanged.
With our new brand identity, we want to reflect our commitment to building a consolidated payroll platform to unify fragmented compliance and payroll infrastructures across geographies.
In order to create a new identity for the Lano brand, we have developed a whole new brand design system, covering everything from our logo to our illustration style to the visuals we use for our blog, social media channels and more, and then rolled it out across all media outlets.
We wanted the new logo to be less playful and more mature, but modern at the same time. Our rebranding team went through multiple brainstorming and feedback loops to finally choose a logo that not only highlights the concepts of maturity and modernity, but is also universal and clear in its design.
"It was about getting rid of visual elements that were no longer aligned with us, while keeping its core intact, but with a more attractive and contemporary style", explains Adela Posse, Senior Brand Designer at Lano. The new logo has a more balanced morphology and sits in persian and dark blue.
A couple of months ago we introduced Lano 2.0, our new global employment platform that not only comes with a fresh new look, but is also more intuitive, leaner and more organized. And the best thing about it: It also boasts new additional features.
And speaking of new features, did you notice that we have a lot of new pages on our website, such as our very own Lano Academy and our new Lano Marketplace? And there’s a lot more to come in the product department, since we’re currently fine-tuning our payroll consolidation platform.
“This year, we’re celebrating Lano’s 5th anniversary. We’ve come a long way. While we’re continuing to build upon our mission we’ve had since day one – to enable companies to grow global teams – we’re evolving in our ecosystem-first approach to bring global payroll and embedded fintech together.” says Aurel Albrecht, CEO and Co-Founder at Lano.
“With payroll data and global payments powered by an ecosystem of local compliance experts and integrations, the Lano platform modernizes, centralizes, and consolidates your manual payroll operations with end-to-end automation”, he adds.
At Lano we see payroll as a local problem in need of a global solution. Aggregators provide lower value to the customer due to their inflexible models with a “one-size-fits-all” approach paired with a strong vendor lock-in. On the other hand, consolidating global payroll allows us to focus on our customer’s business needs – something made possible only by building the ecosystem for global payroll with a product-first approach to provide customers with the analytics and actionable insights they need to make better business decisions on workforce planning, to stay resilient in dynamic business environments.
“Lano’s Payroll Consolidation is the only SaaS platform dedicated to supporting extremely complex payroll structures at scale with in-built compliance and payment capabilities. Aside from our robust global network of compliance and payroll partners in 170+ countries, our integrations to our existing systems like HRIS, ERP, and payroll software enables our clients to put payroll operations on autopilot,” explains Markus Schünemann, CTO and Co-Founder at Lano.
Does this mean our work is done here? Definitely not.
Our vision is driven by the long-term success of our clients, and as a team we continually challenge the current status quo. This year marks an important moment for us as we celebrate Lano’s 5th anniversary and we are very proud of the achievements since Lano was founded. The world of work is changing, and new complexities and challenges will continue to arise, demanding new solutions in the global payroll and payments space.
We believe that global payroll software should enable resilient growth and equip businesses with the analytics, insights and data they need to deal with unforeseen events and adversity. True to our core value of enabling our customers, we will continue to adapt our solutions to accommodate ever-changing customer needs and expectations and keep up with the latest industry trends.
